An action plan for solid waste management is designed in conformity with the State Policy on Integrated solid waste management and the Municipal Solid Waste (Management and Handling) Rules 2000
Steps Involved in Integrated Solid Waste Management:    

Door to door waste collection in non slum households	Whole Kundapura is divided in to Five command areas for collecting Solid waste. In four command areas of Solid waste Collection will be done by SHG’s by Four auto tippers and in one command area  no SHG is coming forward for this activity hence ULB will carry out this operation by using One auto tipper.  Command Area 1 Command Area 2 Command Area 3 Command Area 4 Command Area 5
Waste Collection In Bulk Generating Area	Waste will be collected as a part of door to door collection by SHG’s in their respective command area
Waste Collection in Slum Area	Waste collection in slum area will be done by ULB Total number of slum households:809+454 Total Number of workers deployed for this operation is 9Nos.and 5 pushcarts will be provided for this activity
Secondary Transportation of Wet Waste	ULB will be handling the secondary transportation of waste with a dumper placer
Secondary Transportation of Street Sweeping Waste and Debris	ULB will be handling the transportation of street sweeping wastes using a Tractor Trailer. And the debris will be transported by the builders themselves to the disposal site Street Sweeping activity will include: ·        Cleaning of silt accumulation along kerbs and shoulder drain. ·        Sweeping of roads, streets and path ·        Uprooting of vegetation ·        Cleaning and desilting open drains ·        Clearance of litterbins ·        Open area cleaning. Whole Street sweeping activity will be managed by ULB. Total workers deployed for this operation is 17Nos
Processing and disposal	The Engineered landfill would be based on the approach of progressive up gradation of integrated solid waste management facility. The primary concept in the Engineered landfill is to have isolation of the waste from surface run off to ensure that water entering into the waste is minimized and consequent leachate generation is minimised.The landfill site would initially developed so that all the rain water from outside the site do not come into the proposed landfill area by construction of appropriate surface drains.
